British Customs

From 2016-2022 I was the Creative Director for British Customs, creating and managing all photo and video media (both lifestyle and product imagery for britishcustoms.com, social media, and print media) and offering a cohesive vision and voice for the brand.

An important emphasis for British Customs was to celebrate the creativity and individualistic spirit of the motorcycle community. The message centered on the romantic soul of why people ride: to inspire creativity and connection, to enjoy the adventure, and to be present.

Artistic images of unique bike builds and rider stories were combined with an approachable brand voice that offered valuable resources to riders of all experience levels - simultaneously encouraging riders to think bigger about their desired riding experiences while being presented with accessible and functional knowledge about motorcycle performance, culture, and history.

Several series’ and collaborations were launched to illustrate British Customs’ approach, including:

  • A “Designed and Tested” series, which included BC bike builds being ridden and reviewed by professional riders such as Gared “Stankdog” Steinke, Kelana Humphrey, and other riders in the community.

  • Collaborations with artists, actors, musicians, and brands active in the motorcycle community, including Paul Wesley, Crime By Design, Malle London, Vagabrothers, Cafe Racers of Instagram, Skoti Collins, and others.

  • Installation guides in video format featuring in-depth guides with master tech mechanic, James Errera of True Fast Garage.

  • Branded content, ranging from shooting seasonal lifestyle or studio photography for web-print such as the photos shown below to producing videos like this “Adventure Upgraded” video
